Alan Woodrow Park Retirement Villages was conceived and developed under the Catholic Order of the Knights of da Gama, a non-profit organisation. The Order extends a personal invitation to view accommodation and discuss personal requirements. The non-profit basis makes it unique among non-subsidised retirement villages in South Africa. Accommodation includes comfortable one or two bedroom apartments and 2 bedroom cottages with kitchen, yard, lounge/diner and patio. Residents enjoy life with like-minded people sharing aspirations, opinions and pleasures. Staff provide caring concern for well-being, including on-site access to hairdresser, library or doctor, and meals without cooking or washing up. The village is well managed and properly maintained.
